Two Chairs — Conversations

In the winter of 2022, inspired by my blue chair and a purple velvet chair she inherited from her mother, Linda Hoffman and I decided to get together for some conversation in our chairs. We didn’t know quite where this was going . . .

It was a treat to be getting together in person as the pandemic was beginning losing its grip. First, she came up to Vermont with her mother’s chair in tow, then I traveled down to her farm.

At one point, while her husband Blase was helping us unload her purple velvet chair from the car, he asked us, “Just what is it that you two are doing? Where are you going with this?”

We both shrugged and our voices responded in concert, ”We don’t know yet, but we are having fun!”

By June we had landed our first topic and a videographer who was willing to play.

In this first Two Chairs conversation, we explore pruning — daring to make those cuts — in the orchard and in one’s own life. Then in subsequent conversations we moved on into the perseverance it takes to complete things — the grace and grit of it all.

We hope these conversations are enjoyable and that you find them beneficial somehow. We are still having fun with all of this, so stay tuned for a few more conversations in the future.
